Whether you are looking for the perfect start to the day or an afternoon pick-me-up, nothing quite beats a great cup of coffee! Here’s how I make the perfect brew:
It helps to start with the best coffee you can find. I use Truth coffee grounds and a Bialetti moka pot to create coffee that is both strong and smooth. Once the moka pot is all set up and on the stove, I start working on the milk. I microwave the milk for 30 seconds, stir, then microwave for another 30 seconds. You have to be vigilant though, as microwaving an unattended jug of milk can have explosive and messy consequences!
Once the moka pot has done its magic and has been taken off the stove, it’s time to froth the milk. I use a regular cheap stick frother. The key to achieving perfectly frothed milk at home and with minimal equipment is to start with hot milk and froth until the big surface bubbles disappear. This will ensure you end up with a long lasting, smooth froth. It’s not quite true micro-textured milk, but its pretty darn close.
Once you are done frothing, pour the coffee into the cup ( I use about a 50/50 coffee to milk ratio ) and slowly add the milk. You can add sugar if you like, and sit back and enjoy the delicious fruits of your labour!
